On October 27, 1917, Gallwitz shot down the S.E.5a of English ace Arthur Rhys Davids. It was his fifth victory. On March 27, 1918, he shot down the Bristol F.2b of English ace Robert Kirkman. A month later, Gallwitz was injured in a crash and never returned to combat.
